Special Note Regarding Games With Batteries  

Since there are no known standards in rating the condition of video games all ratings are subjective and a matter of opinion.  We do our best to rate items consistently.  A quick look through our eBay feedback will show that we rate our items fairly.  However since it is a matter of opinion please ask if you have any questions regard condition or if it is important to you.

We rate the condition of the cartridge label, the instruction booklet and the case insert.  We do not consider the case itself when rating the insert since the case can easily be replaced.  Dust, price tags, labels and anything else that is easily removed or cleaned is not considered when rating an item.  Stains, ink marks, tears, holes, fading and anything else that can not be easily removed or corrected is considered when rating an item.  All ratings assume that the cartridge works when inserted into our test console.  We will not sell a non-working cartridge without clearly stating that it does not work.

All cartridges have been taken apart and had the contacts cleaned.  They have been tested only to the point that they boot up and display the start-up screen.  All accessories have been tested to verify that they work.  System consoles are tested for power, audio/video, game loading and controller port functions.

We use several different terms in our item descriptions for describing the condition of the various pieces that make up a complete game. 

They are…

“New”

New means just that.  Items marked as new may or may not have the original shrink wrap intact.  These items are obviously very special.  Please inquire before making a purchase for detailed information about the specific item offered.  We are happy to provide scans or detailed photos for these items.  These items will be priced at a premium.

“Collectable”

Collectable means just that.  It is the condition that every collector strives for.  The item looks as good or better than the average new one.  No visible flaws or defects.  Scratches on the cart from inserting it into the console will be non-existent or very slight.  In the case of "Card" games the plastic sleeve is included.  These items will usually be priced at a premium. 

 “Near Mint”

Near mint means that the item is very close to what it looked like brand new.  It may not be perfect but it is close.  It could have some small barely noticeable defects.  There may be light scratches on the cart from inserting it into the console.  In the case of "Card" games the plastic sleeve is included.  These items may be priced slightly higher than average.

 “Excellent”

Excellent means that there are a few more noticeable defects than near mint and there may be some wear showing but all around the item shows very well.  There will usually be scratches on the cart from inserting it into the console.  In the case of "Card" games the plastic sleeve may or may not be included.  These items will be priced at or near the average selling price of like titles.

 If an item does not have one of these conditions listed it does not meet the standards above.

“CIB”

CIB means that the item is "Complete In Box".  This means that it has the cartridge, box and manual.  In the case of "Card" games the plastic sleeve may be missing.  It is possible that there is a map or other insert that we are not aware belongs with a particular game.  If you know that an insert belongs in a game and it is unclear if it is included or not in the listing you should ask if it is important to you.  Condition of these items is not guaranteed.  It may have wear, creases, tears, stains, ink marks, dirt, missing UPC codes, and in limited instances a missing case insert back.

“Cart Only”

Cart Only means just that, the only thing included is the game cartridge.  The condition of these items will vary widely and will generally be "Excellent" or less.  Labels may be worn, faded, torn, creased or missing.  There may be stickers or writing on them.  If the condition is important to you please inquire before purchasing.

“Box Only”

Box Only means just that, the only thing included is the box and insert.  The condition of these items is fairly consistent.  Generally these items will be in "excellent" condition or better.  No photo copied inserts will ever be listed without being specifically identified as such.

“Manual Only”

Manual Only means just that, the only thing included is the manual.  The condition of these items is fairly consistent.  Generally these items will be in "excellent" condition or better.  No photo copied manuals will ever be listed without being specifically identified as such.

“Import”

Import means that this item is not one of the original 115 US released games for Sega Master System.  If it is one of the original US release titles then it is listed as "import" because the box, manual and/or cart have a language other than English on them.  Unless specifically indicated the country of origin is not known.  Import games could come from Canada, Europe, Brazil, Australia, or Japan.  As far as compatibility between systems goes there are only 3 games that have been reported to have problems.  Back to the Future III does not work at all on NTSC systems.  Prince of Persia and Jungle Book have been reported to have occasional slight graphical glitches on NTSC systems.

Games With Batteries

Some game carts have batteries inside of them that are used to save game settings.  Two things need to be noted about this.  On rare occasions we have found profanity saved electronically on the game carts.  This needs to be mentioned just in case you plan on giving one of these games to a young child.  We do not have the time or resources to check each game for this.  We urge you to check the games yourself if you are planning on giving them to a child.  It only takes a few moments to check for and correct any issues that may exist.  Secondly, most of these games are well over 10 years old and up to 20 years old in some cases.  Because of their age we cannot guarantee that the batteries in these games will work, or if they do that they will continue to work.

We are exploring the idea of offering a service to replace the batteries in these cartridges but at this time we do not have the tools required.
